Philippine Monkey-Eating Eagle
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. As much of an asset the Monkey-eating eagle is to the Philippine environment, this particular raptor is an endangered species whose habitat is quickly succumbing to the ravages of farming and logging; when the habitat is gone, so too will the eagle. Being that the Monkey-eating eagle is essentially forced to remain where it is, it must therefore deal with changes in its environment as influenced by its number one threat: man. In an effort to stake its own survival within the scheme of perpetual evolution, humanity has taken to infiltrating such sacred places as the Philippine rain forest as a means by which to acquire the raw material needed for development; moreover, there is just as much concern over poor indigenous forest dwellers who have long used the damaging slash and burn farming technique. The inevitable outcome is a conflict between the natural element and the unwelcome devastation brought about by these human activities; only through tremendous efforts by the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) will this species be able to avoid total extinction. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Pit Bull Fighting And Laboratory Research: Animal Rights
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. Animals provide a significant supply of goods for human beings, not the least of which supports man's medicinal, food, companion and entertainment needs. However, in spite of all the various ways animals serve mankind, there has historically been little thought given to their own right to existence, having always been considered little more than a disposable commodity. While there exists two very diverse sides to the animal rights debate, two in particular that are the most prevalent include the inhumanity of pit bull fighting rings and whether or not the animals forced to succumb to such horrendous testing procedures are actually worthy of being considered sentient creatures with rights of their own. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Political, Economic And Cultural Constraints That Limit The Application Of Ecology In Conserving Endangered Species
