Slavery / U.S. vs. Caribbean

The paper shows that the conditions of the slaves was similar during the years of slavery, and discusses the current debate on the socioeconomic impacts of slavery in the two areas (U.S./British colonies). The paper posits that the difference between the two regimes is that in the United States the freed slaves have educational and economic opportunities not available in the Caribbean.
